Melancholy In Love Pt. V: Flood by Hurts to Purr

Come on, bring me a flood
Come on, bring me a code red warning
My baby and me need a tragedy
I like Hurts to Purr, but my favorite song from them is Flood. I love this song so much. It takes you and moves you, like the Sea. I think this song is what Melancholy In Love is all about.
Liz Pappademas's voice along with the melody arrangement of Tom Benton & Jeremy Bruch just makes Flood perfect. The lyrics are really saddening and each time when I listen to the song I think of rain on a normal dark spring day. Lying back on your bed thinking of so much that's making you feel down. This song hits me personally. Whenever I listen to it I'm taking away. It's just that good. I think if you love piano you'll love this song.
I don't really know what else to say for this song. It's too great to describe. If you've never really listened to music like this before it might not move you at first but give it time. You'll be swayed.

I can't believe I'd wish for so much suffering
But it's better than this nothing
Bring me anything, oh, to get my baby and me together again
Here's Flood by Hurts to Purr

Melancholy In Love Pt. IV: Algo Esta Cambiando [Something's Changing] by Julieta Venegas

Man, I don't know why I love the sounds of Julieta Venegas but she is winning my heart song by song. One of her songs, "Algo Esta Cambiando", is a great song about a relationship that is at first glance the same but if you look closely something's changing.
I love this song and I love this artist. I found out about Julieta Venegas from Nelly Furtado when she was on Furtado's song, "Baja Otro Luz [Under Another Light]". Hearing Furtado, Venegas, and La Mala Rodriguez singing, "El Color De Mi Vida Cambio Desde Que Tu Llegaste [The Color Of My Life Changed When You Arrived]" Back and forth like they were in a conversation was magical. It made the song a great one. If they collaborate again I'm buying the song, no questions asked. Anyways, moving on.....
Julieta Venegas treats her songs like children. You can just hear how much work has been put together for each song and Algo Esta Cambiando must have taken her weeks to put together. To make the song just right. The song itself is great to listen to.
I feel like I'm "in love" and then losing love when I listen to the song. Fading out of a relationship that was not working with me emotionally. I love that. I love how a song can take me and swoop me into a lovely story. It's great to hear songs like that.
All in All, I think this song is a great one, very close to a perfect song. For all music lovers out there if you love Perfect Pop you'll love Julieta Venegas. Especially the song, Algo Esta Cambiando. It's got a 97% out of 100% in the "Perfect Pop" Meter.
With vocalizing, hooks, and a chorus that'll echo in your head anytime anywhere, if America was very open to foreign music this song would top charts. But sadly that's not the case. Oh well, At least it top Latin Charts. Go on with your Spanish self Bonita!
While I listened to Julieta since January 2010, I've been having a lot of thought about what kind of music I like. I love so much music but I'm also picky at the same time. In middle school I thought I liked Indie Music but I don't. Cause the Decemberists piss me off and Vampire Weekend are annoying sometimes to me. And so on and so on.
I think that I like Pop.
Perfect Pop, not Popular Pop that sucks.
Good Pop that takes you and makes you want more.
Pop that's catchy.
Pop that tells a story.
Pop that takes you away.
Pop that makes people feel.
Pop that just makes you feel human.
I've explored through English, French, and Asian Pop since I was 8. I didn't know much about Latin Pop until 2009.
You know, I think that I wouldn't have explored Latin Pop Music if it wasn't for Nelly Furtado's 2009 album, Mi Plan. Also, I wouldn't have found out about Julieta Venegas without Furtado's help. Thank you, Nelly Furtado!

Happily Nostalgic 2: Strawberry Swing by Coldplay

You know, when Coldplay released their recent album, Viva La Vida or Death & All His Friends, I didn't really want to have anything to do with it at first. Mostly because Violet Hill was ok and Viva La Vida never really moved me so I never really got into it like how the rest of the world did.
Then one day, I saw an advertisement for a new Bat For Lashes song. So, I checked it out and then I saw a list of music videos so I looked through and saw the Strawberry Swing music video. I watched it and was so amazed by the graphics and the design that I almost completely tuned out the song. After that I didn't really listen to the song again for about 7 months. I started listening to the song again because I was making mix CDs for some friends and stumbled upon it in my music collection. Just to say, I have so music that I don't really have time to remember every song I have. It's like having a Pandora on my Zune whenever I put all the songs on shuffle. So, I listened to Strawberry Swing again (audio only) and it moved me. The song was so nostalgic with the melody, sounds, and lyrics that it took me back to being a kid again. I really liked it.
After a couple of days of "re-discovering" Strawberry Swing, I watched the movie, My Sister's Keeper. During the last scene I was listening to Strawberry Swing in one ear while intensely watching the movie and the little girl Anna (Abigail Breslin) was going on about how no one did anything special for Kate (Sofia Vassilieva). She just died.
At first I was really sad by that. You lose someone you love and nothing really special happens for them.
People who are still living get monuments made after them all the time and don't deserve it and the good people that die are forgotten by everyone. Except for the loved ones, for the good people will always (unintentionally) leave an empty space in their families hearts.
Basically what I'm saying is that watching the last scene while listening to Strawberry really tugged my heart. My heart was tugged so hard that it was a sudden pull. A pull waiting to happen ever since my grandma died.
That pull must have been waiting for 15 years! This movie will tug at your heart too if you've lost someone that was really close to you. No matter how little you were when they passed away. I was 3 years old when my granny died and it still affects me to this day. She was a very good person. Granny is a saint if you compare her to Della Reese. That's how great of a person she was.

Anyways.....On with the music....

Strawberry Swing is such an ending song, an ending of a life song. The feeling you have when you listen to it, that feeling of nostaligia and memories of life before you passed. It's really moving and personal for many listeners of Coldplay.
I could go on and on about this song right now but I shouldn't, cause then I'll ramble on.

Melancholy In Love Pt. III: I Know by Algebra Blessett

I'm sorry, it's been a month. I've been gone for a whole month cause it was Black History Month. I love celebrating it. I was rediscovering R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap music through February and I was watching a lot of Black TV Shows. God, they're addicting. I love being black. Anyways....
I love the vocal sounds of Algebra. To me, Ms. Blessett does a great job with her Pure R&B sounds and Pure R&B vocals. Lyrics that are true and filled with emotions. My favorite song of her's is, "I Know". The melodies and the beats of I Know are amazing. This song is on the Girlfriends Soundtrack. This song reminds me of the show Girlfriends but it also reminds me of myself. Growing, Learning and Knowing.
Here's I Know by Algebra Blessett

Hope you enjoy the song!

I didn't make this video but I really like it. I had to share it with you guys.
